Press release
As a result of the severe weather, especially in Southern Austria, many floods, mudslides, and landslides were recorded. In a series of television and radio interviews, the geomorphologist Thomas Glade from the core facility eSurfLab at the University of Vienna discussed in detail how this happens, what role climate change plays and what can be done preventively. Glade advocates long-term monitoring programs for landslides and mudslides to implement effective forecasting and early warning systems.
